Restaurant Commission: Sanwa Jo, Kowloon City

Experience a captivating art collaboration at Sanwa Jo, a Japanese restaurant nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Kowloon City. This unique artistic fusion brings together the visionary talents of local artists Eric Ho and Sharmaine Kwan, resulting in a mesmerizing display that seamlessly blends contemporary Chinese ink paintings with vibrant neon lights.

Eric's contemporary Chinese ink paintings, from his HKID series, invite viewers to embark on a visual journey through the essence of Hong Kong. With an abstract geometric aesthetic reminiscent of urban fabric, the artworks encapsulate the city's dynamic spirit and architectural landscape. Each stroke of ink unveils the intricate layers of Hong Kong's vibrant history and cultural diversity, creating a captivating narrative within the artwork. Complementing Eric's paintings, Sharmaine's neon light highlights add a dynamic and energetic dimension to the artistic collaboration. Inspired by Japanese elements and icons such as the daruma, the fireworks, and a plane reminiscent of the old Kai Tak Airport, the neon lights infuse the artworks with a luminous vitality. The interplay between the delicate ink strokes and the vibrant neon lights evokes a sense of harmony and synergy, celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures.

This art collaboration at Sanwa Jo offers patrons a unique and immersive dining experience, where delectable Japanese cuisine harmonizes with the visual feast of contemporary art. Be captivated by the convergence of ink and light, as Eric and Sharmaine's collaboration weaves together the threads of history, culture, and artistic expression.
